BSA B44: The Piglet

This machine started out as a 1968 B.44 Victor Special, and a brief to turn it into a machine that had something of an Urban Enduro set of qualities about it,besides being able to tackle moderate off-road terrain.  The engine has been completely rebuilt, with a lead-free exhaust valve seat and racing valve-springs of the highest quality as improvements upon the standard specification.

The cycle parts have been shotblasted, primed, then painted up in yacht enamel for a highly durable and lustrous finish. The front wheel rim size has been changed to 21" WM1 , both wheels having been rebuilt using British chromed rims and stainless spokes. Both brakes have been prepared with oversized linings turned to match the respective drum diameters. Alloy mudguards have been fitted in the interests of weight-saving, with hand-built stays being fabricated in - house; the rear seat loop being provided with extra reinforcement and lugs to enable the fitment of a small luggage rack at some future stage.

One important modification to this machine has been the addition of a spin-on cartridge type oil filter that is installed behind the left-hand side cover on a specially fabricated bracket.  It should greatly increase the life of the engine by providing far cleaner oil at all times than the original mesh strainers ever could, as well as a degree of extra oil capacity.   One of the earliest street-scrambler hooligan motorcycles, made better , and tougher .
